Motherland is one of the best sitcoms that has ever been made. Amandaland (BBC One, Wednesday, 9pm)… isn’t.
The trick is not to compare the two, but to think of them as two entirely separate entities. That’s difficult, though, because the only reason to watch Amandaland at all is probably because it’s a spin-off from Motherland.
