Former Emmerdale star Jurell Carter has landed a big TV role following his exit from the ITV series, and he will star alongside a fellow soap star in a new project from the brain behind popular crime drama Power.
The actor, who played Nate Robinson in the ITV soap, has joined the cast for Fightland, the upcoming series from Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson. Carter, who left Emmerdale in September 2024, confirmed the news via Instagram.
“Grateful to be a part of something very special,” he wrote in the caption, with the post also including a promotional image. “Fightland British-set boxing crime series executive produced by Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson.”

Fightland, which will premiere on Starz on 31 July, is set in the “cut-throat, high-stakes world of British boxing”, and follows a formerly-incarcerated champion who seeks revenge against those who betrayed him.
Featuring Howard Charles as lead character Maduka ‘Duke’ Kilroy, the series is said to contain “edge-of-your-seat action” as well as a cast of “dangerous characters”, with “money and power” being the order of the day (via Sky).
“Fightland is a bold and compelling British production with a distinctive voice and the potential for true global impact,” said Katie Keenan, Group Director of Acquisitions for Sky UK and Europe, who dubbed it an “ambitious, high-impact drama”.
“Fightland delivers a dynamic blend of action and fearless, character-driven storytelling set against the vibrant backdrop of British boxing,” added Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming at Starz.
In addition to Charles and Carter, the cast for the crime drama includes Nicholas Pinnock, Deborah Ayorinde, Charles Babalola, Anita-Joy Uwajeh, Tahirah Sharif and Richard Pepple, while 50 Cent serves as an executive producer.
Carter isn’t the only soap star in the line-up, with Tyler Conti also having a role in the series. The actor, who played Abe Fielding in Channel 4’s Hollyoaks, confirmed his involvement in Fightland last year.

According to the press release, Conti will be portraying Justin ‘Jay’ Hall in Fightland. The character is Duke’s best friend, but his life had “hit the skids” following Duke’s incarceration. With Duke now released from prison, a new chapter awaits.
Fightland premieres on Starz on 31 July. Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
