EastEnders spoilers follow.
Ian Beale and Elaine Peacock may have been feuding on EastEnders in recent months, but newer scenes saw the pair have a shock kiss following the election result. Naturally, the aftermath will be rather tense.
The duo have been gunning for each other as they ran to be Walford’s councillor, with several barbs and insults being traded. The election results were revealed during Thursday’s (7 May) episode, with Ian the victor.

He harboured some guilt regarding some of his actions during the campaign, and headed to Elaine after the result to apologise. In a surprising development, he kissed his rival – and she kissed him back.
The pair were understandably confused by what had happened, especially with Ian being in a relationship with Bea Pollard, and this is set to rumble on in upcoming scenes on the BBC soap.
Ian is preparing for his first day as a councillor, with Bea fussing around him. He is too distracted to pay attention as the situation with Elaine is still clearly on his mind, but he soon faces the ire of Linda.
She is angry with how Ian treated her mother during the campaign, and he acknowledges that he made many mistakes. Wanting to smooth things over, he pledges to do right by both Elaine and Linda.
Bea, meanwhile, is head over heels for Ian and tells Honey Mitchell – whom she is scamming – that she is hoping to move in with him. Her plans are scuppered, however, when Cindy shows Ian an article from Bea in the Walford Gazette.
In it, Ian and Bea are portrayed as husband and wife, and this angers him. Ian subsequently ends his relationship with Bea, and is so overwhelmed by everything that he forgets his mother’s birthday.

It won’t be the only bad news for Bea in the week, with the schemer finally being caught out. Ian discovers that she had bought several votes in the election by using a fraudulent credit card in Honey’s name, and he’s incandescent.
He tells Honey about Bea’s deceit, though Honey is initially unsure that her ‘friend’ would do such a thing. The schemer eventually comes clean, and a heartbroken Honey rallies around her close friends at the Vic.
EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
