Andy McFadden of Michelin-starred Glovers Alley in the Fitzwilliam Hotel on St Stephen’s Green in Dublin 2 is leaving the restaurant.
In a statement issued by the restaurant, Glovers Alley said it would close on May 17th “to take the opportunity to carry out some essential works and restructure our team and leadership”.
It said it looked forward to reopening “in a number of weeks” and launching “a new and exciting version of Glovers Alley”. It did not specify a reopening date but an online booking link allows for reservations from the start of September.
Patrons holding existing bookings “were contacted directly”, a spokeswoman said, adding that ”alternative arrangements were made where possible”.
In its statement, Glovers Alley wished McFadden well.
Glovers Alley has held a Michelin star for five years.
McFadden returned from London to establish the restaurant in 2018. Its previous incarnation in the same space was headed by Kevin Thornton.

The Michelin Guide, which has already noted the closure on its website entry on Glovers Alley, describes it as a “chic, elegant restaurant with subtle 1930s overtones”.
It says the cooking is “characterised by boldness both in its flavours and textures”.
This is the second Michelin-starred restaurant to announce closure this week.
On Tuesday, Restaurant Chestnut in Ballydehob, west Cork, said it would close in the autumn.
