Lidl Ireland has announced that it will open the doors to its brand-new store in Dunboyne, Co. Meath, at 8am on Thursday, September 11, creating 30 permanent jobs in the area.
The opening takes the retailer’s store count to eight within Co. Meath, expanding the retailer’s workforce in the county to more than 170 employees.
The opening will welcome ladies gaelic football stars, including Meath vice captain Mary Kate Lynch and Meath senior Dunboyne player Katie Bermingham, who will cut the ribbon on the state-of-the-art new store.
Early bird shoppers can get their chance to meet and greet the local football stars and enjoy instore entertainment and opening day offers. The first ten customers will each receive a €20 gift voucher to spend on their shop.
Alongside the opening, the Dunboyne store team will donate €1,000 in Lidl vouchers to local charity Dunboyne Community Centre which offers classes, event spaces and summer camps for local community benefit.
With a sales floor area of 1,409sqm, shoppers can enjoy a shopping experience set within a modern store and featuring a wide range of amenities for the local community.
The shop will include two Deposit Return Scheme machines, self-service checkouts, customer toilets and baby-changing facilities and OOH (out of home) parcel lockers.
Regional property director at Lidl Ireland, Brian Smyth said: “We are grateful to the local community and wider businesses in Dunboyne for their support in realising this project which represents a significant local investment of more than €12 million whilst also creating 30 new jobs for the local area.
“As we further embed Lidl within the community, we look forward to the wider investment which we can continue to bring to the area, building on our local supplier relationships and providing further support for students and girls and women in sport.”
Since opening its first store in Co. Meath in 2004, Lidl Ireland has grown its support for local suppliers and business partners in the county and, last year, procured more than €93 million worth of goods and services from 32 Meath businesses.
Lidl’s key Meath suppliers includes a longstanding partnership with Meade Farm whom the retailer has also partnered with to develop the ‘Lidl Farm’.
Together with Meade, Lidl has turned 8.5 acres of land into a free educational resource for schoolchildren at its Newbridge Distribution Centre demonstrating how the retailer’s relationship has developed significantly over the years from supplying produce to a full-fledge partnership.
More recently, Meade Farm has expanded its product line with Lidl Ireland to include new Irish Rooster Baking Potatoes.
Lidl’s new Dunboyne store will open daily Monday to Saturday from 8am until 10pm and Sunday 9am until 9pm.
