HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – City leaders unveiled the new 60-foot SkyLume sculpture, the largest addition to Huntsville’s public art collection.
The sculpture is made of steel and aluminum and is designed to represent themes like gravitational pull and forward momentum.
Mayor Tommy Battle said the installation furthers the city’s mission to bring art to every corner of the community.
“The art reflects the creativity of our community. It reflects the idea that we sometimes color outside the box and outside the lines. It reflects the idea that we as a community have an ingenuity that is second to none.”
The sculpture is now on display at the park year-round.
