EXCLUSIVE: Bangkok-based production house Film Frame Productions is launching international sales on The Resident, an upcoming horror film from Thai Fighters co-director Chaiwat Sitalasai, here in Cannes.
‘Pie’ Rinrada Kaewbuasai and Toomtam Yuttana star in the film, which is currently in post-production for a theatrical release in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The story follows a girl training to be a carer who inadvertently tells her indebted boyfriend about a rich patient living in a large mansion. The boyfriend and his friend come up with the idea to rob the house, but once inside, they find that not all is as expected.
Chaiwat previously directed horror film Night Shift, also due for release this year, and co-directed martial arts action film Thai Fighters with Tawatchai Ladloy. Both films were also produced or co-produced by Film Frame Productions.
Night Shift stars Chatchai Chinnasri and Nattawut Sanyabut, who both appeared in horror comedy The Undertaker, which was Thailand’s highest-grossing domestic film in 2023.
Released in Thailand in March, Thai Fighters was recently acquired by 3388 Films for distribution in North America, Latin America, Europe, Australia and Japan.
Founded by Pakin Maliwan in 2004, Film Frame has produced around ten films and is also a production services company for U.S. and Asian films shooting in Thailand. The company also co-produced video game adaptation Home Sweet Home: Rebirth with U.S.-based Altit Media Group.
Film Frame also distributes Thai and international films in Thailand, recently including Malaysian titles Blood Brothers and Ejen Ali The Movie 2.
