Cork man Timmy O’Brien took Clodagh Ronan by surprise when he proposed to the Bishopstown woman at their housewarming.

Timmy, from Bantry, and Clodagh had moved into their home in Macroom in 2024 and had invited family and friends over to mark the occasion that August.

“Timmy surprised me in front of all of our family,” recalled Clodagh of his proposal.

The couple, who met online, were wed on May 2 at St Abina’s Church in Clondrohid.

The bride sourced her pre-loved gown from Cirq Bridal in Kildare.

“I tried it on, and it fitted like a glove,” she said, “I bought off the rail.”

Her make-up was by Maria from Allure Make-Up while hair was by Hair by Joanne.

The groom’s suit was purchased from Suit Distributors in Cork.

The couple were supported on the day by family and friends from near and far.

“A lot of family travelled from overseas on Timmy’s side,” the couple said.

Clodagh’s mum passed away last year, and she was never far from the couple’s thoughts on the day.

“We made sure she was remembered throughout the day. We selected Mum’s favourite songs for the church and had a special candle and prayer to mark her,” said Clodagh.

After the ceremony, the couple held a reception for their guests at the Talbot Hotel in Ballincollig.

They were transported there in style by Wedding Vintage Car Hire, with local taxi driver Kieran providing transport for the bridesmaids.

Music at the evening reception was by The Stars band.

“They were fantastic… full of energy,” Clodagh and Timmy said.

The couple’s first dance was to Can’t Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley.

The “delicious” wedding cake was by Cake Couture in Ovens.

Photos on the day were by James O’Driscoll. “He was fantastic, he really made the day! He captured great photos, and he was full of life, getting everyone laughing and smiling,” the couple said.
