The bronze statue that was sawed off its ankles at Glenmere Park in Greeley was found at a Commerce City-based metal recycling business, and has been returned to Greeley.
“The Prize Catch” by Kurt Jungblut was found May 13 at Rocky Mountain Recycling, a business that buys and recycles scrap metals, according to a Greeley Police Department Facebook post. The statue was found one day after it was reported stolen.

The company realized the bronze statue sold to the business matched the description of the stolen statue and reported it to Greeley detectives. The statue has been returned to the city’s parks department.
Greeley Public Art Coordinator Kim Snyder previously said that if the statue was found, the city could refurbish it and put it back on display.
Anyone with information about the theft can contact Detective Lisa Labracke at lisa.labracke@greeleypd.com.
