thousands more families face being drawn into the inheritance tax (IHT) net due to the long-term freeze on thresholds and plans to bring unused pensions into estates from next April.
Ian Dyall, head of estate planning at wealth manager Evelyn Partners, said growing numbers are seeking help: “IHT rules are complex and confusing. The danger is that in trying to side-step IHT, families come a bit of a cropper.”
Dyall highlighted five common DIY planning mistakes that can leave loved ones facing hefty, avoidable tax bills.
