Shoppers are being urged to check their fridges after a batch of crumbed ham was recalled

Irish shoppers are being urged to check their fridges after an urgent food recall was issued for a popular ham product sold in supermarkets across Ireland.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) confirmed that a specific batch of Divilly Brothers No Added Nitrite Crumbed Ham has been recalled after it was discovered that some packs contained an undeclared allergen. The affected product may contain gluten (wheat), which is not listed on some of the packaging. This means the product could pose a health risk to anyone who is allergic to or intolerant of cereals containing gluten.
The FSAI said: “A batch of Divilly Brothers No Added Nitrite Crumbed Ham contains gluten (wheat) which is not declared in the list of ingredients on some packs.” Consumers with gluten allergies or intolerances have been warned not to eat the implicated batch. The FSAI added: “This may make the batch unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of cereals containing gluten (wheat) and therefore, these consumers should not eat the implicated batch. The affected batch is being recalled.”
The recall applies to a 90g pack, with the batch code 20163983 and use by date 04.06.2026. The affected ham was sold in supermarkets nationwide, including Dunnes Stores and Tesco.
A spokesperson for Dunnes Stores said: “Divilly’s is recalling the above batch of Divilly Brothers No Added Nitrite Crumbed Ham as a precaution as some packs may be incorrectly labelled. Consumers who have a gluten allergy are advised not to eat the implicated batch, instead to return it to a Dunnes Stores store for a full refund. No receipt is required.
“We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused.” A spokesperson for Tesco said: “Divilly Meats is recalling a specific date and batch code of Divilly Brothers No Added Nitrites Crumbed Ham 90g, as the product contains gluten which isn’t mentioned on the label. This may make the product unsafe for those with a gluten allergy or intolerance.
“If you’ve bought an affected product and have an allergy to, or intolerance of, gluten, please don’t eat it. Instead, return it to a Tesco store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.”
