An Irish tourist is in custody after cops pepper-sprayed him when he allegedly attacked them in an upmarket area of Rome.
The Irishman started pushing members of the Carabinieri police force when they were called to a bar in the centre of the Italian capital in the early hours of Friday morning, cops said.
The incident happened on Via Euclide Turba in the upscale Prati-Trionfale area, just a few minutes’ walk from the Vatican.
It started when paramedics were called to the bar to try to help the 25-year-old Irishman, who cops say was drunk and was hassling other punters.
He refused medical help and the paramedics were forced to call the Carabinieri when he started being disruptive with them.
