This latest colourway doesn’t stray far from the original, arriving in a black finish across the Air Max 1 mudguard-inspired upper, while swapping out the shade of the bubble. It’s the same formula seen on pairs like the Air Max 1000 ‘Black/Volt’, leaving the door open to other tinted Air units being inserted in the future. The base colour is likely to change as well down the line, given its predecessor’s ‘Lilac’ and ‘Red’ versions that went to market.

News of this release comes on the heels of Nike announcing the lineup of budding designers partaking in their Zellerfeld-assisted Air Works program. Although none of those creations will be available to the public, it shows that the team at Beaverton are remaining steadfast in incorporating 3D-printing into the future of Air Max.

The Air Max 1000.2 ‘Black/Hyper Crimson’ will launch through a raffle via Zellerfeld’s website on May 25, with entries closing on May 28, for a retail price of $179.
