“Both sides are out on the pitch in Clones ahead of this All-Ireland SFC clash at St Tiarnach’s Park. And there are changes in terms of the starting teams.

Monaghan manager Gabriel Bannigan has made two personnel changes to the team named during the week. Jack McCarron and Ryan McAnespie both start, with Cameron Dowd and Stephen O’Hanlon dropping out.

Andy Moran has made one switch to his starting 15, with Stephen Coen coming in for Bob Touhy.

One of the main talking points in the build-up has centred on Mayo’s decision to start Jack Livingstone ahead of Rob Hennelly between the posts. With Rory Beggan at the other end of the field, the goalkeeping battle could be pivotal. It’s dry here at the moment but there have been some light showers over the course of the afternoon.”

Jack McCarron and Ryan McAnespie start for Monaghan today, but there’s no Stephen O’Hanlon, who was excellent in the Ulster final. Mayo have drafted Stephen Coen in for Bob Touhy, who was set to line out in midfield.

38 Mins: Ryan Burns cracks over a two-pointer without having a look at the posts. Bad news for the Dubs as well as Killian McGinnis seems to have picked up a knee injury. He’d be a loss, especially with Ó Cofaigh Byrne absent through injury already. Dublin 1-12 Louth 1-10

37 Mins: A very good start to the second half for Louth, as they cut the gap to four after scores by Mulory and Lennon. They’ve also started really well on Dublin’s kickouts. Dublin 1-12 Louth 1-8

“A perhaps surprisingly entertaining 35 minutes of football ended with Dublin pressing on the accelerator and moving six-points clear of Louth, slowly imposing a little of their old superiority it seems.

Before a crowd of 16,160 – somewhat subdued to begin with – both teams hit the ground sprinting, with Dublin getting their noses in front, up 0-5 to 0-2 after 10 minutes. Struggling under their kick-outs, Louth kept battling hard, unlucky not to score the first goal on 15 minutes, when Craig Lennon and James Maguire had their shots cleared off the line.

After Cormac Costello’s giveaway pass gifted Ciaran Downey a point, Louth then scored a goal from the subsequent kick-out, Kieran McArdle darting into scoring range to blast past Hugh O’Sullivan.

With that Louth were up 1-6 to 0-8, but Dublin swiftly hit back, Con O’Callaghan scoring his first point from play, before on 29 minutes, he latched onto a superb pass by Eoin Kennedy to deftly shoot past Niall McDonnell from the outsight of his right foot. Louth didn’t score again after McArdle’s goal, while McMorrow, Sean Bugler and Costello each added points for Dublin. With that they suddenly look well in control.”

“A strangely subdued atmosphere in Croke Park for the latest rendezvous between Dublin and Louth – this time in the first round clash of the All-Ireland football series. Conditions are at least inviting.

Just four weeks on from their 10-point defeat to Dublin in the Leinster semi-final, Louth get their chance for some swift revenge. Partly inspired perhaps by Dublin’s subsequent loss to Westmeath in the Leinster final after extra time.

With Dublin manager Ger Brennan still absent with a 12-week suspension, Dean Rock again takes charge on the sideline, and has announced one change from the selected team, with goalkeeper Evan Comerford replaced by Hugh O’Sullivan.

Louth manager Gavin Devlin has made two changes, with Seán Callaghan replacing Conor Early at midfield, and Conal McKeever starting in the half forward line in place of Paul Matthews.

Louth are still seeking their first championship win over Dublin since 1973, and despite the setback in Portlaoise four weeks ago, have to fancy their chances here.”

Hello and welcome to live coverage of today’s championship action. A bit of a quiet day compared to some of the Sunday’s we’ve seen so far this summer.

Dublin will take on Louth in Croke Park (2.30pm), just a few weeks after the Dubs won handily in a meeting of the two sides in the Leinster semi-finals. Later on, Mayo look to get back on track after a disappointing provincial defeat to Roscommon, as they take on Monaghan in Clones (4pm). Monaghan will have to shake off their defeat to Armagh in the Ulster final in the same stadium just two weeks ago.

There’s also a couple of hurling games to follow, as Longford and Leitrim head to GAA HQ for the Lory Meagher Cup final (12.30pm). Then Clare take on Galway in the U20 All-Ireland hurling in Semple Stadium (2pm), in a rare clash between the neighbouring rivals.
