There’s nothing quite like enjoying a few beverages and belting out some karaoke with mates, but what would your reaction be if you discovered the performer was actually a bona fide superstar?
That’s precisely what unfolded for customers at an Oxford Irish-themed establishment, when regulars were treated to a rendition of traditional folk song Handsome Molly at the Half Moon Irish pub in St Clement’s. And who was the star to sing it? Well the performance was delivered by none other than Sir Mick Jagger himself. The 82-year-old frontman of The Rolling Stones was captured on camera performing an impromptu number during a visit to Oxford with his partner, Melanie Hamrick, 38, an American former ballerina.
He left the audience thoroughly impressed with his performance, with one woman posting footage of it, expressing her regret at not being present.
Cinzia Bertano uploaded a clip on Instagram, where numerous people shared their reactions – and they were all positive.

In the comments, someone wrote: “Mick is sweet, affable, and charming! Tell me, who wouldn’t have wanted him as a teacher at least once, instead of boring music professors?! I certainly would have learned so much more!”
Others commended his “amazing personality,” while also expressing their disappointment at missing the spontaneous performance.
This appearance by Mick Jagger adds to a growing trend of surprise celebrity visits to British pubs, with Shania Twain spotted at the Shacklewell Arms in Dalston, east London, singing Cotton Eyed Joe.
Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran left students speechless when he turned up to busk on campus earlier this month.
Passersby were thrilled to catch the chart-topping star performing A-Team as they went about their daily routines.
Taking to social media to share the unexpected moment, the university wrote: “Well… this wasn’t on the timetable. A surprise performance from Ed Sheeran on the Waterfront today. Not your average day at the University of Suffolk.”
Elsewhere, Alesha Dixon sent commuters into a frenzy when she took to busking at King’s Cross station last year.
All of these viral videos share one thing in common – they highlight just how much sheer natural talent these recording artists possess when stripped of professional lighting and equipment.
You truly have to take your hat off to them!
