FRANKFORT, Maine (WABI) – A Meta Quest 3 VR headset exploded while charging in a Frankfort home Thursday, causing a flash fire.
Frankfort Fire officials said no one was wearing the goggles at the time of the explosion. The headset was charging on a nightstand when it exploded and caused a flash fire.
The homeowner was outside when the explosion happened and ran inside after hearing the blast. No injuries were reported.
Frankfort Fire officials said they called the Fire Marshal’s Office and Department of Environmental Protection to investigate if there is a problem with the headsets.
