She met Lewis, a Maori builder and former sheep-shearer, while on a surfing holiday in Bali in 2000, and they were married on 31 July 2004. Rather than a grand royal wedding, Lady Davina Windsor chose to marry privately at the chapel of her childhood home at Kensington Palace, with just close family and friends in attendance, and none of the extended Royal Family. Sadly, her 102-year-old grandmother, Princess Alice, was considered too infirm to attend. The pair divorced in 2018.
Lady Davina Windsor does not carry out official functions but does attend family events, including royal weddings. She and daughter Senna were last seen in public when they joined the royal family to support the Princess of Wales’ Together at Christmas carol service in December.
No doubt it was a wonderful day for the Duchess of Gloucester, who was able to celebrate her milestone birthday surrounded by her family. Buckingham Palace marked the occasion with a series of portraits of the Duchess, posing with her husband in the gardens of the Palace.

At the end of May, she was honoured with the Nordic Person of the Year award during an engagement marking her 15th anniversary as the Protector of the Anglo-Danish Society’s Scholarship Programme (true to form, she met with troops of the Royal Bermuda Regiment, where she serves as Colonel-in-Chief that same weekend).
