Tributes have poured in for an Irishman who died in Mexico.

Patrick Sheehan was initially listed as a missing person by the Oaxaca State Commission earlier this month.

They said the 37-year-old Limerick man was last seen on June 11 in Oaxaca de Juárez.

At the time, they wrote: “We request your valuable help and cooperation in locating Patrick Sheehan.”

But in a tragic update, a death notice for Patrick has been uploaded to RIP.

It read: “Patrick Sheehan, Cryle View Manor, Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick, passed away unexpectedly in Mexico on Tuesday, 16th June 2026.

“Predeceased by his father John, grandparents Paddy and Ellen Sheehan, Paddy Stack.

“Beloved son of Ellen and loving brother of Johnny, Maurice and Brian. Patrick is sadly missed by his nana Sheila Stack, sister-in-law Dani, nephew Kyle, nieces Abi and Erin, aunts, uncles, cousins and all his other relatives and large circle of friends.”

His funeral will take place on Wednesday at the Church of the Assumption in Abbeyfeale. They asked for donations to be made to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust if people wished.

One mourner wrote: “So incredibly saddened to hear of Patrick’s passing.”

Another said: “So many fond memories of Paddy, he was so full of fun. “
