An American woman compared the cost of a life-saving cancer medicine in the US and India, saying the massive price difference left her stunned.
The video was shared on Instagram by the account Spicy Gori, where the American woman spoke about the affordability of medicines in India compared to the United States.
In the clip, she explained that a person named Mayan has a type of blood cancer and takes a medication called Revlimid. She claimed that in the US, a single pill costs around 900 US dollars (approximately Rs 85,000).
Curious about its price in India, she said she looked it up and found that the medicine was available for anywhere between Rs 35 and Rs 300 per pill, which she said works out to roughly 30 cents to 3 US dollars. Pointing out the stark contrast, she remarked that while patients in the US were “being robbed,” India offered far more affordable healthcare and medicines for its people.

The video quickly drew attention online, with many users weighing in on the comparison. Several people agreed that India’s generic medicine industry has made many essential drugs significantly more affordable than in several Western countries.
Others shared that they often purchase generic medicines during visits to India because they are also cheaper than those available in Europe.
