In 2009, the blockbusting novelist published his third novel in the Robert Langdon book series. The plot takes place after the events of The Da Vinci Code and was an instant bestseller, with more than a million hardback and e-book copies sold in the UK, US and Canada. A film version, with Tom Hanks reprising his role as the Harvard symbiologist, was planned, but was eventually scrapped. Instead, a decade on, a 10-part TV series was made which acts as a prequel to the movies. It originally aired in the US and is now being made available by Paramount+. Ashley Zukerman plays Langdon, who agrees to deliver a package to his old mentor, Peter Solomon. However, it turns out that Solomon has been kidnapped, and Langdon must rescue him while also thwarting a global conspiracy.

Ashley John-Baptiste returns with five brand-new episodes every morning this week and 10 wide-ranging cases for true-crime fanatics get their teeth into. We begin in Liverpool, where Ashley Dale is found with a gunshot wound in the Old Swan area of the city. She later dies in hospital. As rumours of a gang feud circle, police believe that Ashley was not the intended target. Can ballistics expert Andre Horne help solve the case? We then go back to 1986, and after a child is abducted and sexually assaulted in Berkshire, police work tirelessly to catch the offender, but the case goes cold. Two decades later, the investigation is reopened and forensic scientist Andrew Parry is brought on board and eventually makes a match to a suspect.

Believe it or not, it’s 25 years ago this month since the comedy The Office first appeared on our screens. It only ran for 14 episodes, but it left a huge legacy, and not just because the US version ran lasted for 201 editions. It not only made a star of co-creator Ricky Gervais and led to a slew of ‘mockumnetary’ style comedies, but helped to launch the careers of two supporting actors who have since gone on to become British TV (and even Hollywood) mainstays, Mackenzie Crook and Martin Freeman. Here, they look back on the making of the series, in which they played officious Gareth and everyman Tim respectively. Sadly, it’s not followed by an actual episode of The Office, but the movie spin-off David Brent: Life on the Road can be seen on BBC3 at 11.45pm.

Over the next three decades, she became one of the most photographed British women of her generation and every twist and turn in her life was splashed across newspaper front pages, websites and social media. This four-part series directed by Emmy winner Paddy Wivell charts Price’s story through archive material, previously unseen footage and candid interviews with people closest to her including family and friends. Episodes consider the heavy cost of playing out marriages, motherhood and cosmetic surgery in the public eye.

First broadcast in 1974, Little House on the Prairie is a heartwarming drama for the whole family inspired by Laura Ingalls Wilder’s semi-autobiographical books. The show ran for nine series and concluded the fortunes of the Ingalls family in Walnut Grove, Minnesota, with three made-for-TV films. A glossy reboot developed by Rebecca Sonnenshine introduces a new generation to devoted father Charles Ingalls (Luke Bracey), his wife Caroline (Crosby Fitzgerald) and their daughters Maryn and Laura. The family builds a new home with their dog Jack on the outskirts of the developing town of Independence. Harsh conditions of 1800s prairie life test the family’s faith and resolve but young Laura and her kin draw strength from each other to overcome obstacles. The Ingalls’ fates is tightly bound to Indigenous communities including the Osage people, who have long called the prairie home. Netflix clearly thinks it has a hit on its hand – a second run is already in production.
