An urgent recall has been issued of batches of a cheese product sold in both Tesco and Marks & Spencer in Ireland due to health concerns.
Ireland’s Food and Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has highlighted the recall of batches of Horgans Truffle Gouda and M&S Food Truffle Gouda due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.
Recall notices of the implicated batches will be displayed at the point of sale in affected Tesco and Marks & Spencer stores.
A spokesperson for the FSAI said: “In healthy people, symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes infection can include mild flu-like symptoms, or gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea. However, in people who are more vulnerable, the infection can be severe and can lead to serious complications.

“People who are more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections include pregnant women, infants, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. The incubation period (time between initial infection and first symptoms appearing) is, on average, 3 weeks but can range between 3 and 70 days.”
The Horgans Truffle Gouda in Tesco affected by the recall have best-before dates of 2/10/2026, 9/10/2026 and 24/10/2026, while the Marks & Spencer implicated batch has the best-before date 9/10/2026.
The FSAI has requested retailers to remove the above batches from sale and display recall notices at the point-of-sale.
Meanwhile, consumers who have purchased the affected cheese products have been advised not to eat the implicated batches.
