A lovely new waterside spot coming this summer

A popular bakery, deli and takeaway is adding to its impressive CV with a brand new café, close to Cork Harbour.
Established way back in 1994, and taken over by current owners in 2015, Cinnamon Cottage has long been a local hit for its tasty ranges of artisan cheeses, fruit, coffees, pastries and cakes, as well as selling full dinner and catering options to order. Now the Rochestown-based shop is expanding even further – opening a cosy café in Monkstown.
The café, set to launch in the coming weeks, will be called The Cinnamon Cottage Café. Co-owners Ali Crowley and Patrick O’Riordan joked: “No masterminds here when choosing the name. But you know what they say, if it ain’t broke!”
The café will occupy the former site of the Napoli pizza and coffee spot on Castle Terrace, a scenic location close to where Cork Harbour feeds into the River Lee. The team added: “We can’t wait to welcome you all through the doors of our new waterside café.
“From our bakery roots in Rochestown to this beautiful new seaside location, we can’t wait to bring everything you know and love, homemade bakes, great coffee, fresh lunches and warm welcomes to the heart of Monkstown village.”
Monkstown’s Napoli Coffee and Wine Bar closed its doors in January after nearly 15 years of business. Outgoing owner Jessica Lane said the move was a difficult decision – but that she hoped that the “perfect” person would soon come along to continue serving the community.
That hope has now been realised, as Ali and Patrick work around the clock to get the new café up and running by the end of July. The café has also put out the call for new hires, looking for “looking for passionate, friendly people to join our growing team as we open our doors by the water.”
