A candlelit vigil is to be held in memory of a woman found dead at her Co Laois home, as her heartbroken family seeks to raise funds to repatriate her remains to Romania.
Romanian national Adina Raluca Constantin (55) was found dead by emergency services and gardai at a premises on Church Street, Portlaoise, at 12.30pm on Sunday, July 12.
Her 72-year-old husband, Eugen Constantin, who is also from Romania originally but who had been living on Church Street, Portlaoise, has since been charged with her murder.
He appeared before Portlaoise District Court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody by Judge Andrew Cody to Cloverhill Prison to appear before the court again on Monday, July 17 via video-link.

The vigil, organised by local woman Collette Doocey, will take place at Memorial Park on Ridge Road on Friday, July 17, at 6pm. In a post on social media, Ms Doocey invited people to the vigil to “in remembrance of our dear friend Adina.”
“Please bring a candle and join us in remembrance of our dear friend Adina. “Together with her family may we remember the life she lived and the kindness she showed.
“If possible – please bring battery operated candles, if you don’t have any, normal tea lights will do. We ask that you dispose of these in the nearest bin once used, not to discard them around the area. Please ensure that you park appropriately in the area. Gardaí will be in attendance to manage crowds and local traffic.
“We are sending thoughts and prayers to Adina’s family and friends at this sad time This is going to be hard for us all. We want to reassure the country we will not let this change us and we will forever remember a beautiful lady.”

Adina’s heartbroken family have launched a GoFundMe to raise funds to repatriate her remains to Romania.
The fundraiser ‘Adina Raluca Constantin’ will also help to cover the funeral costs. Organised by Ioan Olumpiu, he wrote: ”We are heartbroken to share that we have tragically lost our beloved Adina Raluca.
“I am a member of Adina’s family, and we are devastated by this unimaginable loss. During this incredibly difficult time, we are facing significant financial challenges in covering the costs of her funeral and repatriation.
“We want to give Adina the dignified farewell she deserves and bring her home to rest with her loved ones. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help ease the financial burden on our family and will be deeply appreciated.
“If you are unable to donate, we would be grateful if you could share this fundraiser with others. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this heartbreaking time.”
