It’s the biggest win in the competition’s history

A Cork woman says she was left in total shock after bagging the biggest ever cash machine prize to kick off the weekend.

Siobhán O’Brien from Youghal got the fateful call on Friday afternoon as she and her family were in the car dropping her sister off for a night on the town.

When the phone call came through, Today FM’s Barry Dunne was quick to introduce himself and inform Siobhán that she was the lucky entrant. Now, all that was left was for her to call out the right number.

Thankfully, Siobhán was on the ball, and she had no problem rattling off the correct figure – a life-changing sum of €310,000. You can watch the clip for yourself below.

Siobhan explained that she’d only just come home after spending time in Australia, which makes the win even more extraordinary, considering she was only here a short while.

The cash machine contest is run across a number of radio stations, and in a follow-up interview with RedFM, a delighted Siobhán gave her immediate reaction.

She said: I can’t believe that, I’m in shock. I suppose a house will be looking likely now.

“I was actually in the car with my mom and my sister, she was going for a night out in Cork, so we were dropping her up. She wants me to go with her now to buy her drinks all night.”

The €310,000 prize is the biggest ever won on the cash machine, narrowly beating out the second-largest sum, which was also won in Cork.

Earlier this year, the O’Riordan family from Ballincollig claimed an incredible €305,000 after getting the fateful call and answering correctly.

Donal said it was “such a special moment” for him, his wife Susan and son Zack, who has special needs. They already have a plan in motion as the family is set for the holiday of a lifetime, a trip to Disneyland.
