Tributes have poured in for “fine musician” and “gentleman” Marcin Nowak who worked at Fibber’s for many years.
The bassist and sound engineer, who was originally from Poland, died over the weekend following a short illness. The 45-year-old was a familiar face in Fibbers over the years and also worked as a freelance engineer.
Fibber Magees paid tribute to Marcin, writing online: “Gone too soon. Thank you for every show, every song and every moment behind the sound desk. Rock on wherever you are.”
The Keep Metal Facebook page also paid tribute to Marcin, writing: “The metal community is mourning the loss of Marcin Nowak, Polish bassist, sound engineer, and longtime live audio professional, who has passed away after a short illness. He was 45.
“Marcin Nowak built a respected career in the Polish metal scene as a bassist, performing with bands including Dimension, Misteria, Mysteria, Thy Worshiper, and Xerosun. His recordings ranged from early underground demos to full-length albums, earning him recognition for his musicianship and dedication to extreme metal.
“Beyond the stage, Marcin was also a talented sound engineer and FOH audio specialist. After many years working at Fibbers, he continued his career as a freelance engineer before joining the team at *eq*, where he spent his final year.
“Rest in peace, Marcin. Thank you for your music, your professionalism, and your lasting contribution to the metal scene.”
Another friend penned a touching tribute online, saying: “A lovely human being and a fine musician and a great technical ability to get others music moving.
“In recent years I met him nearly every day and chatted. Always in fine form and did the impossible by cheering me up.
“A real shock to hear of his death. A loss to the world and the small misfit community we all belong to. He won’t be forgotten and I’ll miss my old mate every time I mic up and amp. Rest in Peace.”
