In between seasons of Taylor Sheridan‘s CIA drama, Lioness, the real-life Central Intelligence Agency was busy clearing up a few things. The organization helped a CIA officer steal 303 gold bars worth roughly $40 million after he formed a phony top-secret program. But that massive scandal won’t be explored in Lioness, where CIA case officer Joe McNamara (Zoe Saldaña) is an American hero. She took down a Middle Eastern arms dealer in season 1, saved a Texas congresswoman from a kidnapping in season 2, and somehow stopped Iran from adding Chinese scientists to its nuclear weapons program. Basically, she puts the real CIA to shame.
In season 3, which kicks off on Sunday, August 2, McNamara will bring her talents to Ukraine next. The trailers for the upcoming season 3 premiere tease explosions larger than any I’ve ever seen on TV. After that? McNamara reportedly returns home to face her personal mission yet.
As the logline for the season reads: “Joe walks the line between duty and home as unseen forces circle her world. Patterns appear where they shouldn’t, names vanish, and paths rearrange. Guided by Kaitlyn (Nicole Kidman) and Westfield (Michael Kelly), Joe confronts enemies operating in the shadows, leaving her to reckon with a war that now reaches into every part of her life.”

How Can I Watch Lioness Season 3?
Lioness season 3 premieres on Paramount+ on Sunday, August 2, at 3:01 a.m. ET / 12:01 a.m. PT. Godspeed if you want to wake up that early (or stay up that late!) to catch the Lionesses in action, but the episodes aren’t going anywhere. Season 3 will then run new episodes weekly through September, with episode 8 serving as the season 3 finale on September 20, 2026.
Taylor Sheridan will write the entire season, featuring the returning all-star cast of Saldaña, Kidman, Michael Kelly, Morgan Freeman, Laysla De Oliveira, Dave Annable, and Genesis Rodriguez.
