For over a decade, Lauren Falcone has gotten up at 3:30 a.m. to be on the air at 5:30 as cohost of WROR’s “Bob and LBF in the Morning.” She says the key to the show’s success is keeping things light and finding a positive balance with all the stresses of waking up in an often-scary world. She says the best compliment she receives from listeners is, “You make me laugh.”
The primary host of Saucy & Friends in the Morning, Danielle Johnson gets plenty of laughs on SparkFM. What some may not know is she is also the station’s founder, and the first woman to launch a digital station in Boston.
Danielle says she feels a responsibility to what she calls an underserved portion of the population to not only play certain types of music, but also discuss issues that are important to her community. Mayor Wu and other leading figures have made appearances on SparkFM to discuss current events and issues of the day.
The brainchild of Boston Globe comedy columnist and critic Nick Zaino, Boston Comedy Radio is a 24/7 streaming digital station that plays Boston-based, bred, and adjacent comedy.
Whether it’s Bill Burr, Bob and Ray, or obscure recordings from Harvard, Zaino has hundreds of thousands of files on hand to represent over a century of Boston comedy.
He’s always, as he puts it, “trolling” the record stores in search of the next rarity to highlight on this new station.
