FP Canada has named the top performers of the May 2026 sitting of the certified financial planner (CFP) and qualified associate planner (QAFP) exams.

Earning spots on the certification body’s President’s List with their top scores in the CFP exam are:

  • Mac Stanley, Sterling Mutuals, London, Ont. —  first place
  • Jacob Baranowski, Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management, Calgary —  second place
  • Babak (Bob) Khalilzadehnouri, RBC Royal Bank, Richmond Hill, Ont. and Rares (Chris) Serban, RBC Phillips, Hager & North Investment Counsel Inc. — tied for third place

As the top scorer writing the QAFP exam, Avtar Hooda of CIBC in London earned the QAFP Exam Award of Merit.

The May CFP exam was written by 653 candidates, with 47 taking the QAFP.

The next exam sittings are scheduled for Oct. 7 and 8 for the CFP, and Oct. 5 and 6 for the QAFP.
