Heatwave conditions may return to Europe in the coming days as a ridge of high pressure brings warmer more settled conditions to much of the region

Warm weather might be back on the cards for Ireland, with temperatures creeping back up in the coming days.
One forecaster predicts that settled conditions and “above average” temperatures are due over the next week. Temperatures in the low 20s with sunshine are expected, and “heatwave conditions” may return to Europe generally, bringing that rise in the mercury.
Dry conditions are also predicted, though the rain and drizzle will not be bamished entirely. Met Eireann reports temperature highs of 22 and 23 degrees over the weekend.
“The weather is turning a little more settled and a little warmer at that as well. High pressure to the south is starting to feed in much milder air across the country, with temperatures over the next week or so expected to be above average for most of us, typically into the low twenties.” said weather forecaster Cathal Nolan of Ireland’s Weather Channel.
“Temperatures will get up into the mid-twenties at times too. We do expect to see mostly dry conditions, a little bit of cloud here and there at times, but some good sunny spells breaking through as well. And we will see a little bit of mist and drizzle at times in the north-west and west of the country, so a little bit of a north-west/south-east split.”
“Into tomorrow, generally speaking, we expect to see more widespread sunshine across the country and temperatures up into the lower mid-twenties. And similarly so on Saturday, very humid conditions indeed, with a little more cloud building.”
“Settled weather even into next week, from Monday through to Wednesday at least, mostly dry conditions, potentially turning even warmer again as we see a ridge of high pressure developing across the continent. That is going to lead to heatwave conditions across many parts of Europe once again.”

Thursday
Thursday afternoon and evening will be generally cloudy with some hazy sunny spells, staying dry for most while a few showers affect western and northwestern areas. Highest temperatures will reach 16 to 21 degrees in light to moderate west to southwest breezes. Tonight will remain dry for most with a mix of cloud and clear spells, alongside the odd shower in the west and northwest. Lowest temperatures will drop to between 8 and 13 degrees, feeling coolest under clearer skies across the midlands, south, and east in a light southwesterly breeze.
Friday
Friday will bring another mostly dry day featuring a mix of cloud and sunny spells, with only the slight chance of an isolated light shower. Highest temperatures will range from 16 to 24 degrees, feeling coolest in the northwest and warmest in Leinster, accompanied by light to moderate southwesterly breezes. Friday night will start mostly dry with clear spells and isolated showers in the northwest before cloud increases from the southwest overnight, bringing outbreaks of rain and lowest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees.
Saturday
Saturday will be a largely cloudy and humid day with outbreaks of rain, which will be heaviest and most persistent across the northwestern half of the country while drier weather prevails further south and east. Highest temperatures will reach 17 to 22 degrees under light to moderate south to southwest winds. Saturday night will stay mild and humid, remaining mostly cloudy with further rain interspersed with drier intervals and lowest temperatures holding between 11 and 16 degrees.
Sunday
Sunday will begin rather cloudy with outbreaks of rain, which will gradually clear eastward to leave a mix of sunny spells and showers. Highest temperatures will range from 16 degrees in the northwest to 23 degrees in the southeast, with moderate southwest to west winds developing throughout the day.
Monday
Monday is set to be dry for most of the country with a mix of cloud, sunny spells, and just a few showers. Highest temperatures will reach between 16 and 21 degrees in mostly light westerly breezes.
Next week
Current indications for Tuesday suggest a largely dry day initially, before conditions turn more unsettled with rain and showers alongside milder and more humid weather.
