The Block contestants Chantel and Wyatt appear close to quitting the show entirely after copping several setbacks in Sunday’s room reveal episode.

The trouble starts in the lead-up to the season’s first room reveal, when foreman Dan catches the couple breaking The Block’s “number one rule”: Enlisting one of their trades to help out with painting. As he reminds them, all painting must be done by Block contestants and Block contestants only.
Chantel insists the error was an honest mistake made in their early days on the show, and says their worker had only just started painting when he was caught.

But other contestants claim they heard the couple talking the night before about their plan to have a trade helping with painting, suggesting it may have been more of a premeditated rule break.

Despite not one but two tense body corporate meetings on the issue, there is no real resolution and resentment clearly lingers from the other teams.

The pair then face a brutal dressing-down from the judges for their first room reveal, coming in fourth place with a score of 20 out of 30.

But the news Cam delivers after the judging is even worse: All contestants had been asked to name a budget and show how well they could stick to it for this first challenge.

One team came within $6 of their target, but Chantel and Wyatt performed the worst by far: Their $8,966 budget had somehow spiralled into a $20,700 spend.

They both insist they have no idea how they managed to end up almost $12,000 over budget.

The pair look shell-shocked as they leave the judging – and talking in the car, it appears they’re ready to call time on The Block, just one week in.

“I don’t feel like I want to stay,” Chantel tells her partner.

“No, me either. I don’t want to be here,” he says.

“I think we should have a talk about what we want to do, because I don’t want to be here either,” she says.

And in a sneak peek of what’s to come this week, it seems the pair might follow through on that threat – they don’t turn up to The Block worksite and also mysteriously disappear from the share house the contestants all live in this season.

“At this very moment, there’s nothing they could say that would make me stay,” says Chantel.

In another preview of a scene to play out this week, the pair are shown going head to head with Scott Cam, with an agitated Wyatt towering over the Block host.

“We would hate for you guys to leave the show,” Cam tells them.

“I pride myself on integrity, I pride myself on being a good human. And you’re making me look like a piece of s**t, Scotty,” says Wyatt.

If the pair do quit, they’d be the latest in a spate of contestants to call time on The Block in recent years.

In 2022, influencer Elle Ferguson and her fiance, former AFL player Joel Patfull, left the show in the first week of filming after Patfull’s mother suffered a nasty fall.

And in 2024, WA couple Jesse and Paige left the show five weeks in after several nasty on-camera fights saw them seek advice from the show’s psychologist. They were replaced by Sydney sisters Maddy and Charlotte – who went on to win the whole season.
