(CNN) – Camping under the stars apparently isn’t just for humans.
Authorities in Larimer County, Colorado, responded to a call about an abandoned llama in the Roosevelt National Forest.
The animal was found hitched to a tree, calmly taking in the view.
A deputy and her law enforcement horse were eventually able to get the llama to move about a mile down the trail.
However, at some point, the llama made it clear that she wasn’t going to move any further.
Food and water were left with the llama, and the deputy decided to return the following day.
When the deputy came, back the llama’s owners were on the scene.
They said that they couldn’t get the llama to leave, so they left her there until they could come up with a way to get her down.
After what was described as a “laborious effort,” the llama finally decided to leave the area with the owners.
The sheriff’s office said it advised the llama’s owners to make sure to leave a note with the llama should something like this happen again.
