A mother has been met with the wrath of the internet after she shared a video of her gym session.

Angela Holm, 29, attended a workout just after 9pm earlier this week, with her five-month-old daughter in tow.

The mother of five from the US state of Utah has almost 2 million followers on TikTok, sharing lifestyle and family-related posts.

I visited one of the most viral gyms in the world, and here are my honest thoughts on it

A montage sharing her late-night gym routine, however, has sparked a difference of opinion among her viewers.

Throughout the minute-and-a-half video, she fills up her water and uses a treadmill while her baby sits in a pram beside her machine.

At one point, the infant fusses, bringing her exercise to a brief pause.

“She started crying, so she’s gonna join me now,” the text on the clip reads.

Ms Holm places her daughter in a carrier she designed herself and resumes walking on the treadmill.

Eventually, the baby drifts off to sleep while her mother continues her fitness session.

The sight seemingly hit a nerve with users in the comment section.

“So dangerous to walk on a treadmill with the baby, WTF,” one person wrote.

Another said: “This seems selfish to me. Can’t the father watch the baby while you work out?”

“I’m not sure this is safe. What happens if you stumble and fall on her?” a third questioned.

Others came to her defence and praised her.

“Anything but applauding and supporting new mothers, I see. And y’all WONDER why we struggle. I see you, mama and you’re doing a damn good job!”

“So many negative comments. I think you’re doing AMAZING. Keep going!”

In a comment to news.com.au, Ms Holm revealed her disappointment at the mum-shaming.

“As a mum of five, I’m very comfortable wearing my baby, and I’m always mindful of her safety and positioning. It was simply a way for me to fit some movement into my day while keeping my baby close,” she told news.com.au.

“I understand that people online will have different opinions, especially when it comes to parenting, but I think mums are often judged incredibly harshly for even the smallest choices.”

“What works for one family may look different for another. My priority will always be the safety and wellbeing of my children, and I’m confident in the choices I make as their mum.”

For Aussie fitness coach Max Dimarco, his concern was less about the baby carrier and more about the late hour for the workout.

“I don’t really think it’s an issue having the baby in a carrier while she is walking. That’s fine, do what you want,” Mr Dimarco told news.com.au

“What I think is the biggest issue here is that she has to go to the gym in the night-time, apparently, and she needs to bring her baby with her.”

He wonders how much of the strain is honest.

“She has the capacity to set up her tripod, jump back in her car and then pretend she’s getting out of her car just for the content. Then she’s setting up the tripod in the gym,” he said.

“My suspicion is that she is only going to the gym in the night time is cause no one else is around, so that she can actually set up her camera to film these videos. It’s a big assumption, but I’m pretty confident that’s why.”
