Emraan Hashmi is back and giving us major nostalgia with Awarapan 2, the highly anticipated sequel to Awarapan (2007). Also starring Disha Patani, Shabani Azmi and Puran Gabbi, the action thriller movie has opened to great box office numbers, which doesn’t come as much of a surprise given the OG film’s cult status and the resurgence of Emraan Hashmi’s massive fanbase. Awarapan 2 will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video — as unveiled in the theatrical version’s opening credits — which is the action thriller’s official streaming partner. As for when the Emraan Hashmi starrer will arrive on the streaming platform, a theatrical movie’s OTT release traditionally occurs after a six-to-eight week window. Hence, we can expect Awarapan 2 to arrive on APV between September 25 and October 9. However, neither the makers nor the streaming platform have officially confirmed Awarapan 2’s OTT release date.
What is the story of Awarapan 2?
Awarapan 2 sees Shivam Pandit (Emraan Hashmi) continue his mundane life as a wanderer, while silently looking after his adopted daughter, Aaliyah (Myrah Shivan). When the latter gets kidnapped — which in turn reveals a larger issue of child trafficking — Shivam heads to Bangkok to rescue her and the other kids held hostage. He goes undercover and joins drug lord Zorawar’s (Puran Gabbi) gang, swiftly becoming his right-hand man. Shivam also finds himself tangled with Zorawar’s sister Zara (Disha Patani), who has a personal agenda of her own. In a race against time, the lead character has his work cut out for him as he fights hard to take down Zorawar’s evil intentions and protect Aaliyah, his sole reason for existence.
