Huawei Mate 90 RS Ultimate Design is seemingly just a month away and new leaks indicate it could bring an especially noteworthy batch of periscope camera upgrades, including a 200MP zoom lens. Here are more details on the flagship’s imaging setup.
Every year, Huawei makes the Mate phones’ cameras better in some way or another. Last year, with the high-end Mate 80 variants, the dual 50MP zoom setup took center stage. Another highlight was the titanium frame and 8000-nit brightness.
With the Huawei Mate 90 RS, DigitalChatStation has reported that we can again get a cutting-edge periscope camera, including a 50MP lens or a 200MP sensor.
Notably, there is a catch!
According to the tipster, Huawei is still evaluating two potential camera sets for the Mate 90 RS Ultimate. The first version includes a dual-periscope telephoto configuration with upgraded 50MP zoom imaging sensors.
In this setup, Huawei could either use two 50MP zooming lenses or a 50MP sensor coupled with a 200MP periscope for the RS model, as mentioned in earlier leaks.
Meanwhile, the second version includes a single periscope setup paired with a massive 200MP sensor. This option will probably ditch the dual zoom theory.
For comparison, the Mate 80 RS Ultimate launched with a total of five cameras: a 50MP ultra-high dynamic range camera with OIS, RYYB, a 40MP ultrawide-angle lens (RYYB), a 50MP super-focus macro telephoto (OIS + RYYB), a 50MP super telephoto (OIS + RYYB), and a 2nd-gen multispectral shooter.
The device supports 4x, 6.2x, and 12x optical quality zoom with 24mm, 13mm, 90.5mm, and 140mm, and up to 100x digital zoom.
According to the tipster, the Mate 90 RS engineering units are now nearing mass production. Perhaps there can still be changes that might reshape the final image of the flagship’s camera system.
