It has been confirmed that Stacey Solomon will join The Masked Singer UK, with the former Loose Women panellist set to be in the show’s first-ever detective role alongside comedian Alan Carr.

Solomon will be taking a seat on the brand-new ‘Wild Card’ panel of detectives, which is headed by Carr. The new additions will rival the OG panel, which is comprised of Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, Maya Jama and Jonathan Ross.

That existing quartet has now been rebranded as the ‘Legends’, and they will compete with the ‘Wild Cards’ as they try to guess the identity of the person underneath the mask. With Joel Dommett returning as host, we can look forward to some healthy competition.

“I’m so excited to be joining Alan Carr’s team on The Masked Singer,” said Solomon, who has previously appeared on The X Factor, in a statement. “Me and my family have been huge fans of the show.”

“We have the best time trying to guess who’s behind the mask, so actually joining Alan’s group of detectives and playing against the ‘Legends’ is a dream come true. I can’t wait to start sleuthing and hopefully unmask a few more superstars!” she added.

The announcement came after the ITV series scattered some clues for viewers over the past few weeks. It was teased that a big shake-up to the format would be coming, as two new elements would be added to the competition.

After proving to be a comically terrible liar on The Celebrity Traitors, Carr is now set to helm the panel of newly-appointed detectives, and the comedian expressed his excitement for the new role.

“I can’t wait to play detective – so excited to be shouting ‘take it off’ in the actual studio rather than on my settee at home,” said Carr, before he described the gig as a “dream come true”.

“We are thrilled to welcome Alan Carr to The Masked Singer,” added ITV’s Katie Rawcliffe. “His wit and energy are the perfect addition to our new ‘rival panel’, and we can’t wait for viewers to see the sparks fly.”

The Masked Singer UK returns on ITV1 and ITVX in 2027.
