Mr Malone, a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and DCU, worked with The Kerryman from the late 1980s and was editor of that newspaper from 2000 to 2015.

Kieran McGeary from Waterford, who’s Kerry’s Eye’s new CEO, also comes from a journalistic background having worked since the early 1990s in local radio in Britain and Ireland.

In 2003, he launched Ireland’s first regional youth radio station, Beat 102-103, and for the past 20 years he has been chief executive of C103 and Cork 96 FM radio stations.
