Aryna Sabalenka is at the top of her game—and the world. The tennis champion currently holds the No. 1 ranking in women’s singles and has four Grand Slam titles to her name, thanks to her wins at the U.S. Open and Australian Open. Off the court, Sabalenka is celebrating another major milestone: She’s newly engaged!
Earlier this year, Sabalenka hinted at a future proposal while competing in the 2026 Australian Open, when she gave her then-boyfriend, Georgios Frangulis, a sweet shoutout after a match. “Thank you to my boyfriend… Hopefully soon I can call you something else,” she teased. Just two months later, Frangulis made good on the remark, proposing to Sabalenka after two years of dating.
Throughout their relationship, Frangulis has been by Sabalenka’s side, cheering her on from the stands at matches around the world. Ahead, everything to know about Georgios Frangulis and his relationship with the tennis star.
He’s from Brazil.
Frangulis was born and raised in Sao Paolo, Brazil, but his family is originally from Thessaloniki, Greece—and his Greek roots are important to him. He studied law at Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado but chose not to take the Brazilian bar exam after graduating in 2014 because he wanted to pursue entrepreneurship instead. After finishing his studies, he moved to Miami, Florida, and later to California.
He’s the founder and CEO of Oakberry.
In 2016, Frangulis founded Oakberry, an organic açai bowl and smoothie company serving açai sourced from the Amazon rainforest. The global franchise now has locations in over 40 countries. In 2024, Sabalenka and Oakberry began a global partnership, and she serves as a brand ambassador. She’s since launched her own signature menu items like the “Power Serve bowl.”
He’s been on the cover of Forbes Brazil.
In 2023, Frangulis was featured on the cover of Forbes Brazil. In his interview, he opened up about his spirituality, family roots, and how he’s scaled the Oakberry brand. He also revealed that he previously battled thyroid cancer, which ultimately led to him starting the business.
“I never told anyone, but in August 2016, I discovered I had thyroid cancer, a four-centimeter nodule that the doctor said needed to be removed to determine the treatment,” Frangulis told the publication.
“I had surgery on October 16th and managed to open the first Oak store in São Paulo on December 6th, because I was struck by a kind of divine lightning bolt when I needed it most—and least expected it,” he added.
He’s also passionate about motorsports.
Apart from being a tennis fan, thanks to his fiancée, Frangulis is an avid racing enthusiast. He’s previously competed in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge races. While juggling his business ventures, his brand, Oakberry, has sponsored Formula 1.
“It’s not easy to be a driver amidst the whirlwind of growth that is Oak. But the Porsche Cup races and training sessions are almost always on weekends,” Frangulis told Forbes Brazil. “Getting in the car and racing is one of the few moments when nothing else matters.”
He’s a huge supporter of Sabalenka’s tennis career.

Frangulis can often be spotted cheering on Sabalenka in her player’s box during matches and practice sessions. In a 2026 interview, he admitted how stressful it can be watching from the sidelines.
“The toughest part is being in the box,” Frangulis said. “It’s one of the most stressful situations I’ve ever experienced. I’ve always loved tennis and been around it for a long time. Through my company Oakberry we’ve sponsored tournaments, but when you have such a personal connection with someone and with the sport, it becomes something completely different. Sitting in the box during tough matches is by far the hardest part.”

Sabalenka often thanks Frangulis during her matches, including at the January 2026 Australian Open, when she cheekily said, “Thank you to my boyfriend… Hopefully soon I can call you something else.”
He proposed to Aryna in March 2026.
Frangulis asked Sabalenka to marry him with a romantic outdoor proposal in March 2026. The couple was surrounded by candles and flowers by a pool as Frangulis got down on one knee. They shared a video of the sweet moment on Instagram with the caption “You & me, forever ♾️ 3.3.26 💍🤍.”
Sabalenka later shared more photos of her stunning engagement ring, which is a 12-carat oval-cut diamond ring featuring two layers of emeralds around the center stone and a diamond pavé band.
In a video posted on the tennis star’s Instagram from her series Aryna’s Arena, the couple shares the backstory and more information about the engagement ring.
Shortly after their engagement announcement, the couple playfully threw a bridal bouquet during one of Sabalenka’s warm-up sessions at the BNP Paribas Open in California. The tennis player wore a bridal veil as Frangulis handed her the bouquet to throw, celebrating their new engagement.
