Huawei introduced many “first-time” devices since last year like the Pura X wide flip foldable, MateBook Fold PC, HarmonyOS-powered computers, and more.
One of these was the Mate 80 Pro Max WIND EDITION. It is the company’s first smartphone with active cooling fan technology. The device claims to offer a significant performance boost over other Mate 80 twins during intense operations.

Now, a tipster suggested that Huawei will continue to iterate its FAN Edition with the Mate 90 series this year and integrate a new active cooling tech upgrade.
The tipster specifically mentioned that the combination of flagship + an upgraded active cooling fan technology is far ahead, and consumers can look forward to it.
Active cooling fans force continuous airflow to rapidly remove heat from a phone. The technology outperforms passive cooling by preventing heat build-up during heavy tasks like gaming. It also stops sudden slowdowns and keeps frame rates high.
Unlike passive cooling, which relies on static vapor chambers or graphite sheets, active-based technology uses air fans that move ambient air across the back panel to speed up natural heat dispersal.
Mate 80 Pro Max has three major parts that focus on enhancing the overall device performance like no other Mate phone. These are as follows:
- Biomimetic Wing-shaped turbofan: It has an alternate blade length design that increases the wind pressure and airflow to easily remove heat.
- Thermal Bending Fins: Strong + Weak airflow partitioning design significantly improves heat dissipation efficiently, resulting in faster and more uniform cooling.
- Hidden Airflow Vent design: This net-like structure under the lens module ensures a comfortable grip without burning your hands.
The changes coming with the new-gen Mate Fan Edition are under wraps for the time being. Though details may hit the surface in the coming weeks.
