A new report says Huawei will continue to see growth in the global smartphone market in 2026 despite ongoing stringent conditions. While every other tech maker is facing some decline, the Chinese OEM may not suffer much, at least not now.
Counterpoint shared a forecast for the 2026 global smartphone market, in which Samsung is expected to retake the No.1 position, while Huawei will take on growth.
The report mentioned that the global market could decline by 14.3% year-on-year in 2026. The reason behind this downturn is the higher component costs that are reducing the availability of lower-priced devices, resulting in weaker consumer affordability.
Predicting the growth journey of every brand in 2026, the report states that Huawei remains an important exception. The company will likely grow by 8% this year due to its loyal consumer base and a stable pricing strategy for its devices.
Huawei has recently unveiled the new Pura X View – a regular wide twin of the Pura X Max foldable. Amid the pressure of increasing prices, the new device can wear a price tag of 5999 yuan (starting price), compared to the clamshell that begins at 10999 yuan.

In addition, the tech giant is constantly releasing budget-friendly models with the latest HarmonyOS iterations, ensuring that it can offer the same level of software experience to every user – whether they carry a flagship or a mid-ranger in their pockets.
Samsung, on the other hand, is making efforts to return to the top position as it still holds a strong portfolio and has more flexibility to secure supply due to strong operator and retail relationships.
The report adds that Apple can remain resilient this time, but the outlook for the Cupertino company is more cautious than for Samsung. It may face a drop in its market share of approximately 2.1% this year, before achieving a good hike in 2027.
