A family’s adorable first encounter with Goofy at Disneyland came with an unexpected A-list spectator: Matt Damon.
Loryn Powell shared a video on Instagram Friday showing her young daughter meeting Goofy for the first time at Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel.
In the clip, Powell’s husband kneels beside their daughter as Goofy, dressed in his signature chef attire, walks over to greet her. The girl smiles, waves and eventually embraces the Disney character.

But while the family’s attention was fixed on Goofy, Damon appeared to be enjoying the moment from just a few feet away.
The Oscar-winning actor can be seen in the background with his arms crossed, smiling as he watches the interaction unfold.
“POV you’re watching your husband and daughter meet Goofy for the first time but don’t realize Matt Damon is also watching your husband and daughter meet Goofy for the first time,” Powell wrote over the video.
“When your daughter is more starstruck by Goofy than Matt Damon,” she joked in the caption.
The unexpected cameo quickly caught viewers’ attention, with commenters pointing out Damon’s reaction as he watched the family’s Disney moment. Some initially questioned whether the man in the background was actually Damon, though viewers noted that his baseball cap appeared to bear the name Artists Equity, the production company he co-founded with Ben Affleck.
Damon’s presence at the Happiest Place on Earth was no coincidence.
The actor was photographed at Disneyland on Thursday with his wife, Luciana Barroso, their daughters and other family and friends while celebrating daughter Gia’s 18th birthday. The group wore matching “Birthday Crew” shirts and posed in front of the giant Mickey Mouse pumpkin on Main Street, U.S.A., according to Parade.
It was unclear whether Powell’s video was recorded during the same visit.
Either way, for one little girl, meeting Goofy was apparently exciting enough that the Hollywood star watching nearby went completely unnoticed.
