‘Career hai, ups and downs hote rehte hain’: Ranveer Singh recalls difficult career phase before Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar’ broke ‘new ground’ Ranveer Singh has opened up about the challenging phase he went through before the massive success of the ‘Dhurandhar’ franchise. The two-part action saga has reportedly crossed the Rs 3,000 crore mark collectively, making it one of the biggest theatrical successes in Indian cinema. As the actor continues to celebrate the franchise’s achievement, he expressed gratitude toward the Jio team and the Ambani family for placing their faith in him when his career was experiencing a difficult period.
Ranveer recalls difficult phase in his career
In Reliance’s documentary ‘Parvah Hai Toh Parivar Hai’, Ranveer spoke about the challenges involved in bringing ‘Dhurandhar’ to the screen. He acknowledged that making the film required considerable conviction and recalled receiving support despite some of his earlier films not performing as expected.“Dhurandhar was not an easy film to mount; it was not an easy film to execute. There were several challenges. Dhanke ke chot pe ja ke back karna conviction ke saath, (To back something wholeheartedly and with complete conviction.) that if this works out, we will be breaking new ground,” he shared, as reported by Mid Day.The actor said the faith shown in him during a difficult professional phase made his association with the project particularly meaningful.“I have to say I was given all the love, all the support and all the encouragement, even at a time when my movies were not doing well. Career hai, ups and downs hote rehte hain. (A career has its ups and downs.) But to have received that kind of support meant a lot to me. It’s nothing short of a blessing, an honour, and a privilege to be associated,” Ranveer added.
Ranveer Singh prepares for ‘Pralay’
The actor has already moved on to his next project. Ranveer is currently shooting for ‘Pralay’, a survival drama directed by Jai Mehta. Set in a near-future Mumbai, the film reportedly unfolds against the backdrop of a deadly pandemic followed by a zombie outbreak. The project also marks Ranveer’s debut as a producer and brings him together with Kalyani Priyadarshan, who gained recognition with ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ (2025). The film is expected to be another major project in Ranveer’s post-‘Dhurandhar’ lineup.
Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone embrace parenthood again
On the personal front, Ranveer and Deepika Padukone are set to welcome another chapter in their family life. Deepika recently shared a post featuring their daughter Dua while announcing the news with their fans. For Ranveer, the period marks a significant phase professionally as well as personally, following the unprecedented response to ‘Dhurandhar’ and his upcoming move into production with ‘Pralay’.
