“Any mention of Dr Todd, and Sarah sees her right there on the floor again,” says Katie Hill, who plays the killer mum. “On the day of Dr Todd’s funeral, things are really difficult for Sarah. Charity organises a family dinner to try and make things feel a bit more normal, but it doesn’t go to plan when DS Ramsden arrives.”

Before Todd’s funeral, Bear Wolf speaks candidly to Sarah about his own experience of guilt after killing Ray Walters and how terrible Charity must be feeling – unaware that he’s actually sitting next to the real killer!

“Bear’s words reiterate the fact that Sarah can’t let Charity go down for this,” shares Katie. “It’s a massive moment for Sarah. Bear’s talking about Charity, saying the guilt chokes you up and it’ll eat you piece by piece until there’s nothing left but to tell the truth. Sarah realises it’s going to happen to her!”

When DS Ramsden takes Charity to the station, interrupting their family meal, Sarah sinks into a dark place. Charity’s anxiety escalates when her account of the confrontation with Todd is contradicted by the forensic report, and this news convinces Sarah to do the right thing and confess everything.

However, when Serena hears that Sarah wants to go to the police, she’s terrified they’ll all be locked up for perverting the course of justice.

Will Sarah be able to keep a lid on her guilt? Can she live with the idea of innocent Charity suffering in prison for something she did, after everything Dr Todd put her through?
