Peak Amplification, the amplifier module brand created by Elytone, announced that its new 500W heatsink-free GaN amplifier module is now available. This is the technology that Elytone unveiled in 2025 and previewed at ISE 2026, generating legitimate excitement particularly in the pro audio industry looking for high-power multichannel applications. The new AM-500C1G amplifier module is powered by Infineon CoolGaN technology, and sets a new benchmark for high-density audio performance.

This is the technology that Elytone unveiled in 2025 and previewed at ISE 2026, generating legitimate excitement particularly in the pro audio industry looking for high-power multichannel applications. The new AM-500C1G amplifier module is powered by Infineon CoolGaN technology, and sets a new benchmark for high-density audio performance.
 


Since the unveiling of the new Peak Amplification modules in 2025, the company has refined the platform even further, optimizing the design and components. This allows the new AM-500C1G module to more than double the power output of the previously announced AM-200C1G module at 4Ω, without requiring bulky external heatsinks. The efforts represent a continued partnership with Infineon, leveraging the company’s CoolGaN IGC090S18S1 GaN transistors, resulting in further performance optimization at higher power, while sustaining the superior reference quality audio achieved with the Peak AM-200C1G module demonstrated in Barcelona at ISE 2026.

At the core of the AM-500C1G module is Infineon’s CoolGaN power transistor (IGC090S18S1) integrated with the IRS20957S Class-D controller IC. Paired with a half-bridge self-oscillating topology and external clock synchronization, the module achieves an ultra-low total harmonic distortion of 0.0007% THD (@1W, 4Ω, 1kHz), an extremely low output impedance of 6mΩ, and a noise floor of just 40μV (A-weighted) — delivering 1/20th the distortion and half the noise of conventional MOSFET-based Class-D amplifiers.

Operating at up to 94% efficiency (200W – 500W @4Ω), the single-channel AM-500C1G generates minimal heat and scales up to 500W @4Ω (300W @2Ω, 250W @8Ω) without a heatsink. Its compact footprint — measuring L115.0 × W30.0 × H29.0 mm and weighing just 65g — is optimized for vertical carrier board placement, allowing system designers and engineering teams to increase multi-channel density in tight chassis spaces without thermal throttling or complex cooling setups.

“With the AM-500C1G, we are proving that high power output doesn’t require extra size or thermal complexity,” says Albert Yong, CTO of Audio/OEM at Elytone. “By pairing Infineon’s CoolGaN technology with our vertical module architecture, we have reduced THD to 1/20th and cut the noise floor in half compared to traditional MOSFET-based Class-D designs — all while delivering 500W of audiophile-grade power without a heatsink.”

With the availability of the new flagship GaN-based single-channel audio amplifier module, Peak Amplification jumps to the forefront of the industry, delivering a platform that is particularly appealing for products that need to maximize power density and audio fidelity. Since the preview earlier in the year, many manufacturers developing top-tier audio systems that demand high power output and uncompromising thermal efficiency have been eagerly anticipating the availability of the new AM-500C1G module. 

Apart from many professional audio companies looking for multichannel, commercial AV, and active loudspeaker designs, the AM-200C1G and AM-500C1G modules have also seen a strong interest from hifi and high-end brands. The published specifications position the AM-500C1G as a next-generation alternative to the established silicon-based Class-D modules. Although the flagship platforms from Hypex, Purifi Audio, and ICEpower already offer exceptional efficiency, power density, and measured performance, these GaN-based modules aim to combine comparable high-end audio specifications with a smaller, thermally simpler mechanical implementation.

The single-channel AM-500C1G (500W into 4Ω) is in the same performance class as widely adopted premium modules such as Purifi Audio’s 1ET400A, which is specified at 425W into 4Ω, while remaining below the higher peak-power capability of Hypex’s NCx500, rated at up to 700W into 4Ω under its specified test conditions. ICEpower’s 700AS1, meanwhile, is specified for 700W into 4Ω at 1% THD+N across the audio band.

 


Peak Amplification offers two-channel evaluation kits for the new amplifier modules, complete with power supply, RCA and XLR inputs, speaker outputs, two-channel or bridged mode selection, gain selection, input selector, and power control – all in a 1U, 1/2 rack housing. 

The Peak AM-500C1G allows for very flexible amplifier configurations, from two-channel to high-power multichannel products, with all the benefits of a compact amplifier module size and low thermal requirements. The AM-500C1G can open new possibilities for multichannel amplification products without limits on audio quality, in form factors previously impossible.
