Encore! Mt. Morris, a non-profit organization working to make Mt. Morris a destination for the visual, performing, and culinary arts, recently announced its fall art classes for 2026. All details, costs, and registration information are available on its website at encoremtmorris.com.
Exploring Pastels: Discover the expressive possibilities of oil and chalk pastels in this exploratory studio class. Students will experiment with color theory, blending, layering, texture, and mark-making techniques while developing confidence with both mediums. Through guided/creative exercises, participants will learn how to create vibrant artworks, explore personal style, and expand their artistic skills in a relaxed and supportive environment. No prior experience is necessary. Supplies will be provided for use during class.
Participants are encouraged to bring a few reference photos. The session will be from 1-4 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Mt. Morris Senior and Community Center.
Pour Painting: Pour painting, also known as fluid art or acrylic pouring, is an abstract technique where fluid acrylic paints are mixed with thinning mediums and poured, tipped, or blown across a canvas. Each person will get an 11-by-14-inch canvas and four tiles to make 4.5-inch coasters. No art experience is necessary. All supplies will be provided.
The class will be from 10-11:30 a.m. Sept 19 at the Mt. Morris Senior and Community Center.
