A couple who met at university while studying the same course went on a date and found out they’d actually lived their whole lives just eight minutes apart – and were even born just two minutes apart in the same hospital.
Faye McComb and Joshua Young met while both studying real estate at Ulster University in Belfast. The couple, both 22, went on their first date last September after they started chatting on a night out and Joshua sent Faye a message on social media.
They quickly realised they had the same birthday, but were shocked when they discovered Joshua was born just two minutes after Faye – at the same hospital. Faye was born at 2.43am on March 3 2004, while Joshua was born two minutes later at 2.45am, both at Antrim Hospital, Co Antrim.
They then spent their whole lives living just eight minutes apart. Faye believes it’s ‘fate’ that she and facilities supervisor Joshua ended up together after they officially became boyfriend and girlfriend on December 18 last year.
After sharing a post on social media about their birth times the clip went viral, racking up more than 3.2million views, likes, shares and comments. Social media users in the comments have labelled their relationship ‘fate’, while others were left asking if they ‘were twins or a couple’.

Faye, from Ballymena, Co Antrim, said: “I knew that he was born on the same day. But then we were out for dinner one night in October and I asked him what time he was born at.
“He [Joshua] didn’t know so he texted his mum and she replied saying 2.45am – we couldn’t believe it. I was just shocked – especially when he said he was born in Antrim [hospital] as well, it’s crazy. I was just thinking what are the chances of that happening – I googled it and it said it’s a one in several million chance that couples are born on the same date, time and place.”
Faye said: “I’d say it’s fate that we’re together. We’re both very similar and we get on very well; we’re just like the same people with the same goals, interests and morals.”
Despite living just eight minutes away from each other in their home town and studying the same course at university, the pair didn’t start chatting until the night out last September.

Faye said: “Me and him [Joshua] were in the same university class – I’d seen him but I never really spoke to him or anything. Although looking back there was a class picture and we were standing right next to each other without realising.
“In September 2025 we were both out in a bar not even close to where we live, it was his first night out in over a year and we both weren’t meant to go out. I was about to leave and I saw him and went over to him and asked how he was and stuff and that was really it.
“Then [a couple of weeks later] I was in Belfast one night and I put a post on my private story asking if anyone could give me a lift home. He messaged me and said he could but I had already got a lift sorted at that point but I thought that was really nice of him for offering.

“I asked him if he wanted to go out bowling a couple of days later and he said yes and that was it from there and we have seen each other every day since.”
Since sharing a video about their shared birthday on TikTok, Faye has been inundated with more than 1,288 comments from social media users who joked about their ‘age gap’ and labelled their relationship ‘fate’.
One user commented: “Wait are you twins or a couple?” Someone else wrote: “If fate was described with two people, this is it.” Another said: “This is the same age difference I have with my TWIN.”
A third joked: “Let’s not romanticise age gaps.” Another person commented: “That’s actually so cute. ‘Yeah the love of my life and I were born in the same hospital, same year, same month, same day and two minutes apart’.”
