Forever Home, the upcoming British drama based on Graham Norton’s 2022 novel of the same name, has unveiled its first trailer. And if the 40-second teaser is anything to go by, it looks like it will be a tense affair.
The upcoming 5 series follows Carol Crottie (Amy Nuttall), whose partner Robert (Douglas Henshall) is suffering from dementia. Robert grows increasingly reluctant about leaving the house, but Carol suspects that there may be another reason for this.
While we still don’t have a premiere date for the highly anticipated series, we do have this tantalising trailer, in which Henshall’s Robert warns someone not to go down into the cellar, as it’s “full of poison”.

It’s soon suggested that Robert may be hiding something, with several family members doing some investigating as they strive for the truth. It quickly becomes clear that they all have their own agenda, but what’s the root of the conflict?
In addition to Nuttall and Henshall, the latter of whom is known for Shetland, the stacked cast for the series includes Denise Welch, Lewis Cope, Jenny Walser, Shane Zaza, Kevin Whately and James Baxter.
“When her older partner Robert’s dementia worsens, Carol Crottie starts to wonder if the reason he won’t leave his home has something to do with the whereabouts of his first wife, who ran off with Robert’s brother 20 years ago,” reads the logline.
“When Robert’s anxiety about the house’s hidden basement rises, Carol’s curiosity is piqued as she and her mother investigate the whereabouts of Robert’s first wife, Joan. But the secrets Robert has kept will take a long time to untangle.”

Norton, whose novel has been adapted by Clara Salaman, said of the project: “In writing Forever Home, I was initially inspired by the simple idea of packing up a home later in life, and the ‘what if’ scenarios and complexities that come with later-life relationships.”
“The novel soon evolved into a funny, twisted, dark romp full of farcical scenes, and it’s wonderful to see the depth and richness of Carol’s story realised as a screenplay,” added the television presenter and novelist.
