Richard Donohue’s grave was damaged
Gardai have launched a probe after a grave was damaged in a Co Galway graveyard earlier this week.
The Irish Mirror understands Richard Donohue’s headstone was wrecked just 24 hours after it was erected in Ballymore Cemetery and hours before it was blessed.
Mr Donohue passed away unexpectedly on July 28 2025, and his family had to wait a year to get a headstone.
Sharing photos of the damage, one friend wrote: “Rest heavenly peace Richard Donohue. Your grieving family and kids have been through over the last 13 months.
Gardaí are investigating after the grave was destroyed in Craughwell earlier this week
“Now waking up too the news of your headstone been destroyed on the day of its blessing. Richard’s father and mother was in to me for a visit during the week and were glad too see the headstone finally been put up they are still grieving the loss of a son.
“So Keep Richard’s family and young sons in your prayers. (SIC)”
Another said: “I know we give you a beautiful headstone. I know we did you proud for the sc*mmy people that broke your headstone last night that you may burn in the pits of the hill and you’ll have to come out sometime another you dirty evil bastards.”
In a statement, Gardai said they “received a report of damage at a graveyard in Craughwell, Co Galway overnight on Thursday 27th August into Friday 28th August 2026.
“Investigations ongoing.”
