Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister continues to be linked with a potential transfer exit from the club this summer, as doubts continue over his future.

Liverpool looks set to keep Alexis Mac Allister at the club this summer, despite more recent links to a potential switch to Manchester City.
The Argentinian international has just two years remaining on his contract at Anfield, and following difficulties over the past season, there have been doubts about his place in the team moving forward.
Those have been silenced somewhat by Mac Allister’s father, making it clear that an exit isn’t on the cards, while Andoni Iraola showed his faith in the player by giving him his first start of the Premier League season over the weekend, as he featured from the off against Nottingham Forest.
However, links to Manchester City have appeared once again, with the club on the lookout for a new midfielder or two in the final days of the transfer market, following the loss of key players such as Rodri and Bernardo Silva.
Considering his contract status and the potential need to raise some funds, there has been a possibility that Liverpool could sanction a sale.
Reporter David Ornstein suggests that won’t be the case, though, when he explained the midfielder’s situation at Anfield and the links surrounding an exit.
Speaking to NBC, he said: “There have been some rumors about Alexis Mac Allister leaving potentially to Manchester City. I’m told it’s very likely that he will now stay.”
“I don’t see a great deal of other business going on in what Liverpool will hope to be a good squad for Andoni Iraola going forward,” he added on the overall transfer business facing the team.

It seemingly puts an end to the rumors surrounding Mac Allister, though it does leave Liverpool facing some huge question marks over the current setup of the midfield heading into the rest of the season and beyond.
With the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Florian Wirtz at his disposal, Iraola has an attack-minded quartet of options in the central ranks, which could help the Reds steamroll teams, but has so far left the side looking unbalanced, especially in defending counterattacks.
While it remains to be seen how the manager deals with that, there are deeper questions about the future of Mac Allister specifically, with his contract situation set to be a concern soon.
With two years left on his deal, the next year becomes a prime time to either sign him to a new deal or sell him before he becomes a potential free agent the following summer.
That is without considering the future of Trey Nyoni, who has shown over the preseason that he can make an impact and could potentially push for a place on the team in the coming months.
It remains to be seen how Liverpool and Iraola deals with this in the future, but it is yet another area of concern, of which there are now many for the manager and recruitment team to contend with.
