The Vault Gallery in Newnan is presenting “Wild Alterations: Views of the Natural World,” a group exhibition featuring artists’ interpretations of plants, animals and the natural environment.
The exhibition runs through Sept. 30 at the gallery, located inside the Charles Wadsworth Auditorium at 25 Jefferson St.
An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18. Artist Amie Esslinger will give a gallery talk at 7 p.m.
The exhibition features work by David Boyd Jr., Philip Carpenter, Dave Collins, Erin Dixon, Rae Duncan, Jenni Horne, Tim Hunter, Ryan Lamfers, Casey McGuire, John Morris and Eve Graybeal Olsen.
Organizers said the show explores how artists reinterpret the natural world through subtle changes, unexpected perspectives and more pronounced distortions.
Esslinger will also present an installation in the gallery’s Escape Device Project Space, located inside the building’s historic bank vault.
The project space was created to feature site-specific artwork designed around the unusual setting of the former vault.
The Vault Gallery presents exhibitions from fall through spring through a collaboration involving the City of Newnan, the Newnan Artist-in-Residence Program, the University of West Georgia’s Art Program and UWG Culture Lab, with support from the Hollis and Blackwell charitable trusts.
Gallery hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday during exhibitions.
