Channel 4 has released the first trailer for Pierre, a brand-new six-part crime drama starring Sherwood’s David Harewood that will be premiering soon.
The trailer starts off almost sitcom-like in tone, showing Harewood’s titular solicitor as a man barely scraping by money-wise in a dead-end job that he can’t bring himself to quit, trading dry jokes with his other half and facing everyone with a half-smile and half-sigh.
But then things take a serious turn, and he soon finds himself trying to find justice for a young man when the cards are systematically stacked against him.

The trailer also includes a brief moment where Pierre is told he’s not Superman, which might be sly reference to how Harewood played Cyborg Superman in Supergirl, a role he didn’t really enjoy playing.
Billed as Channel 4’s latest “gripping” drama by the broadcaster, the official synopsis reads: “David Harewood OBE stars as Pierre, a West London duty solicitor and a force of nature: charming and funny, juggling the pressures of his job, a fragile personal life and just keeping his head above water financially.
“His resilience is tested when he begins investigating the suspicious death of a young black client, Michael.
“As Pierre challenges the police’s portrayal of Michael as a criminal, he unravels a chilling web of institutional corruption… When you come at the system, the system comes at you…”

As well as Harewood, the show stars The Bill’s Michele Austin, Boiling Point’s Jason Flemyng, Game of Thrones’ Dean-Charles Chapman, What’s Love Got to Do With It?’s Nikkita Chadha, EastEnders’ Christopher Fairbank, London’s Burning’s Sara Powell and The Midwich Cuckoos’ Cherrelle Skeech.
It also introduces newcomers Dylan Ennis and Ezrae Mayes, while Boarders’ Sarmad Masud directed, and The Windrush Chronicles’ Roy Williams OBE and Utopia’s John Donnelly served as co-writers.
Pierre is soon coming to Channel 4, but doesn’t have a specific release date yet.
